12TONE is the design portfolio of San Diego resident, Greg Gibson. I’m is a musician at heart working in visual communication, helping companies/brands realize their potential and convey their message by utilizing smart design and creative marketing techniques. The name “12TONE” references twelve-tone composition, which is the method of composition ensuring that all 12 notes of the chromatic scale are sounded as often as one another in a piece of music while preventing the emphasis of any through the use of tone rows, an ordering of the 12 pitches. This tie-in to my music background is meant to invoke a certain aesthetic in the creative process, with the twelve-tone process representing an ordered, yet limitless approach to both the design process and marketing decisions.
